Ray Tsuchiyama's grandparents arrived from Japan to Kahului more than a century ago. In Tokyo for 20 years, he led the Asia Office for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, launched a start-up, and then was with AOL during the merger with Time Warner. He has also launched offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore, São Paulo, Bangalore, and New Delhi. When the Great East Japan Earthquake struck, he was a senior consultant to Google. His evolving blog themes: pre-War plantation society, regional architecture, sustainability and energy, and Hawaiian music and language.
